Mung Bean Stuffed Onde-onde

Talking about market snacks is not far from this one snack, namely Onde-onde.
Yes, all of you must know and can even say that you have seen this one market snack, a market snack that is so famous in all Indonesian communities.

A snack filled with mung beans and sesame sprinkles and in a small round shape and some are even large, this snack is not easy to forget for the tongue of people, especially in Indonesia.

What are the ingredients for making Onde-onde?

Onde-onde snacks do not have to be filled with mung beans, you can customize them with other ingredients, and you can replace them with cheese, peanuts, chocolate, and anything according to taste.

The ingredients needed to make onde-onde are very simple, many of which you can find in markets or shops close to your location.

Ingredients: 

150 gr peeled mung beans (without skin), soak in water for 1-2 hours
100 gr granulated sugar
200 ml diluted coconut milk
1/4 tsp salt
1 pandan leaf, torn into pieces
Vanilla to taste

How to Make Mung Bean Stuffed Onde-onde

1. Steam / stir the soaked mung beans until they are soft about 30 minutes.
2. Puree with some coconut milk, & Cook the mashed mung beans with coconut milk, sugar, salt, and pandan leaves while stirring until evenly distributed.
3. Add vanilla powder, mix well, set aside until warm, and then round it. Size according to taste.

 Ingredients to make the skin/cover:

250 g white glutinous rice flour
25 g rice flour
100 g steamed potato, mashed
50 g granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
200 ml warm water 

 Complementary:

- 100 g sesame seeds
- Water
- Plenty of cooking oil

 How to make the skin/cover:

1. Mix all dry ingredients, & stir until smooth.
2. Pour warm water gradually, while stirring the dough (or knead by hand slowly). 
3. Add water only until the skin dough is smooth and soft.

 Finishing:

1. Divide the skin dough into as many rounds as the onde-onde filling. Flatten, add filling, and round.
2. Dip into the water, roll in sesame seeds, and compact. Do this until the dough runs out.
3. Heat the oil on low heat, add the onde-onde while the oil is still warm. Let the onde-onde until it bubbles and floats. 
4. Fry while stirring gently so that the onde-onde expands.
5. Turn up the heat a little, and fry until the onde-onde is brownish.
